Parole for Hawara on humanitarian grounds to meet ailing mother
Cleared parole for Hawara on humanitarian grounds · thehansindia.com

Many years ago, Jagtar Singh Hawara was sent to prison for his part in the killing of Beant Singh, a former chief minister.

Hawara is serving a life sentence for that crime.

Now, his mother is very old and unwell, and she has a renewed hope of seeing her son after 31 years.

The Governor of Punjab, Gulab Chand Kataria, has recommended that Hawara be given parole.

Parole lets a prisoner leave prison for a short time.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also supported the idea and suggested a 10-day parole.

Even Ravneet Singh Bittu, the grandson of the man who was killed, backed the plea.

He said the elderly mother should not suffer for her son's actions.

Officials now have to decide whether to approve the visit.
