Mumbai Port Handles Three Heavy Cargo Packages for Abu Dhabi
Mumbai Port handled three very large industrial packages.
They weighed 718, 502 and 232 metric tonnes.
The packages came by barge from Dahej in Gujarat.
They are being prepared for export to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
Normal ship equipment and shore cranes could not unload them safely.
Instead, the barge was placed beside the berth and levelled with the wharf.
Hydraulic trailers rolled underneath the packages and moved them onto land.
The cargo will stay at the port until another vessel can carry it onward.
Mumbai Port Authority handled three Over Dimensional Cargo packages weighing 718, 502 and 232 metric tonnes.
The packages were transported by barge from Dahej, Gujarat, to Mumbai for onward export to Abu Dhabi.
The cargo includes a PG Cooler, a Riser and Downcomer, and a Steam Drum.
A specialised Barge Roll-Off method used hydraulic puller trailers to move the packages onto the wharf.
The cargo will remain at Mumbai Port until an onward vessel is available for shipment.
