Pune Deploys AI Cameras, Drones And 10,000 Police For Immersion
Pune is preparing for a large Ganpati idol immersion procession on September 25.
More than 10,000 police officers will help keep people safe.
Thousands of special cameras will watch roads, crowds and important locations.
Some cameras use artificial intelligence to spot problems such as overcrowding, fires or weapons.
Drones and vehicles with cameras will also send information to a central control centre.
Police will use loudspeakers to give instructions and help guide people.
They will check traffic, noise levels and possible security threats.
Some Ganpati groups will not be allowed on the four main procession routes because of permission rules.
Police have already registered 21 cases during the festival for noise violations and other offences.
More than 10,000 police personnel will secure Pune’s Ganpati immersion procession on September 25, scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.
Police will monitor the event using more than 3,500 night-vision AI cameras, including over 400 along procession routes and immersion points.
Drones, mobile surveillance vehicles and more than 200 video-analytics capabilities will help detect crowding, weapons, fires, abandoned objects and unusual activity.
Traffic systems, noise meters, public-address networks and GPS tracking will support enforcement and crowd management.
Police have restricted 150 mandals from the four major processions, while 21 cases have been registered for noise violations and other offences during the celebrations.
