Shillong Volunteer Arrested for Extorting Rs 15,000
A traffic volunteer in Shillong was caught on video asking a man from Assam to pay Rs 15,000 as a fine for driving in a no-entry zone.
The volunteer first asked for Rs 1 lakh but later reduced it to Rs 17,000 and then Rs 15,000.
The man paid the money and the volunteer let him go.
The police have started an investigation to look into this incident.
The volunteer is a casual employee and taking money from people is not allowed.

The incident took place in the Madanrting area of Shillong after an old hatchback car entered a no-entry zone.
East Khasi Hills District SP Vivek Syiem confirmed that an investigation has been ordered to look into the incident.
