Madhya Pradesh Lights 3.55 Crore Diyas, Launches Free Registrations
Madhya Pradesh celebrated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday by lighting millions of small oil lamps called diyas.
Altogether, 3.55 crore diyas were lit across the state.
Ujjain had the largest display, with 33.27 lakh lamps placed along river ghats and at Mahakal Mahalok.
More than 25,000 people helped with the Ujjain programme.
The government also started a plan to register property for 50 lakh people without charging a registration fee.
Officials said the plan is meant to give rural families clearer ownership rights over their land.
A one-month registration campaign will take place in more than 23,000 villages.
The government also discussed financial support for women and development of pilgrimage sites.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and BJP leaders Nitin Nabin, Hemant Khandelwal and Mahendra Singh joined the lighting programme at Ujjain’s Ramghat.
The government launched free property registrations for 50 lakh people after surveying around 68 lakh plots, with a one-month campaign covering more than 23,000 villages.
Mohan Yadav said Ladli Behna beneficiaries had received more than ₹55,000 crore, while women in employment-based industries would receive a separate ₹5,000 monthly benefit through VGF.
