Tripura CM Unveils Dhyan Chand Statue, Details Sports Infrastructure Push
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha unveiled a statue of famous hockey player Major Dhyan Chand.
The event happened on National Sports Day, which is celebrated on Dhyan Chand’s birthday.
Saha said Tripura wants to build better sports facilities for young players.
He also said sports can help people stay healthy, disciplined and away from drugs.
The state has already built several synthetic football fields.
New floodlights have been installed at Umakanta Academy ground.
A large cricket stadium and a gallery for about 30,000 people are planned.
Sports and youth hostels are also being built in different parts of Tripura.
The government said it will provide awards and other support to successful athletes.
