69-Foot Khairatabad Bada Ganesh Ready After Months Of Artisan Work
Artisans in Hyderabad have made a very large Ganesh idol.
It is 69 feet tall and took more than two months to complete.
About 100 to 150 workers helped build it.
They used clay, sand, straw, wood and steel.
The clay came partly from Rajasthan.
Special mixtures were used to help protect the idol from rain and cracks.
The idol will be shown during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
Many devotees are expected to visit Khairatabad to see it.
More than 100 artisans worked for over two months to create the 69-foot Khairatabad Bada Ganesh.
The idol will be unveiled as the Panchamukha Sankatahara Maha Ganapati for Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.
Nearly 1,000 bags of river-clay powder from Rajasthan were mixed with local sand and water.
About 150 workers from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Tamil Nadu handled construction, moulding and painting.
The Khairatabad Bada Ganesh tradition began in 1954 with a one-foot idol and is now in its 72nd year.
