Madhya Pradesh Scraps Mandatory Land Requirement for Private Schools

In Madhya Pradesh, a state in India, the government changed the rules for private schools.

Before, private schools had to own a certain amount of land to get permission to open.

Schools in cities needed at least 75 decimals of land, and schools in villages needed one acre.

Now, schools do not need to meet that land rule anymore.

If a school does not have its own playground, it can use one that is within 500 metres.

Schools can also operate from two campuses instead of just one.

Teachers will have to mark their attendance with a fingerprint machine.

Science classrooms need a combined lab for grades 9 and 10, and separate labs for grades 11 and 12.

Some people who run private schools say the new rules are impractical and hard to follow.

Schools that want to open a new branch must finish all the paperwork by February 28.
