Kavitha Outlines Social Justice Roadmap At Telangana Rakshana Sena Meet
A new political party in India held a big meeting in a stadium in Hyderabad.
The party is called Telangana Rakshana Sena, or TRS for short.
Its leader is a woman named K. Kavitha.
She started the party in April after leaving another party called the Bharat Rashtra Samithi.
At the meeting, hundreds of party members came together and took a promise to help build a socially just Telangana.
Kavitha said she wants people from Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, minorities, and other groups to have more say in politics.
She has also asked for 42 percent of seats to be reserved for Backward Classes.
The party says this meeting shows its plan to give more opportunities to communities that have less power.
Kavitha wants the creation of Telangana to turn into real social and economic equality for everyone.
Hundreds of Telangana Rakshana Sena (TRS) members gathered at Hyderabad's Saroor Nagar indoor stadium for the Social Justice Telangana Sankalp Sabha.
Party president K. Kavitha outlined a vision for development and political representation focused on Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, minorities and other marginalised communities.
Kavitha launched the party in April after splitting from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), and the Election Commission approved Telangana Rakshana Sena as the party's name.
Her emphasis on BC political representation follows her earlier campaign for 42% reservations for the community in Telangana.
The same venue previously hosted BRS working president KTR's youth meeting on July 18 and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi's mega rally on May 8.
