Andhra Pradesh Closes Schools in Six Districts Amid Deep Depression

Schools and Anganwadi centres closed September 23 in six north-coastal Andhra Pradesh districts.
The affected districts are Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam, Visakhapatnam, Alluri Sitharama Raju and Anakapalle.
The India Meteorological Department said the deep depression was moving westward over the Bay of Bengal toward the Andhra Pradesh-Odisha coast.
The system was expected to cross between Visakhapatnam and Gopalpur near Kalingapatnam by Wednesday night.
Authorities cancelled employee leave and deployed State Disaster Response Force teams because of possible heavy rain and flooding.
