Traditional Ashada Bonalu Celebrated with Devotion in Patancheru
In a town called Patancheru, people held a big festival called Bonalu on Tuesday.
Hundreds of people joined in to celebrate.
Bonalu is one of the most important traditional festivals in the Indian state of Telangana.
During the festival, people carry pots of food called Bonalu as gifts to the goddess Sri Pochamma.
There was a huge parade with these offerings, along with traditional music and dance.
A leader named K. Sujatha came with her family to say special prayers.
She said the festival shows the rich culture and traditions of the Telugu people.
She also said the festival connects Telangana with the neighbouring state of Andhra Pradesh.
Every year, people also take Bonalu offerings to Goddess Kanaka Durga in the city of Vijayawada.
Hundreds of devotees participated in the traditional Ashada Bonalu celebrations held in Patancheru town on Tuesday.
Devotees offered Bonalu to Goddess Sri Pochamma, with a grand procession featuring Bonalu offerings, Palaaram Bandi, Thotela and Ghatams.
The celebrations included traditional music and cultural performances by artists and were organised in accordance with longstanding Bonalu traditions.
K. Sujatha, Sangareddy District Disha Committee Member and Senior BJP Mahila Morcha Leader, participated with her family and offered special prayers.
Sujatha said Bonalu reflects Telangana's cultural heritage and highlighted annual traditions of offering Bonalu to Goddess Kanaka Durga at Indrakeeladri in Vijayawada.
