A 19‑year‑old cyclist from India named Harshita Jakhar rode in the Tour de France Femmes, the big women’s bike race.

She was the first Indian woman to do so.

She joined a small group of riders from other countries on the second day of the race.

The race started in Lausanne, Switzerland, and ends in Nice, France.

The UCI, the world cycling body, welcomed her and said she would likely return for the main part of the race.

Harshita trains in Patiala, India, with her dad who used to race too.

She hopes to finish in the top 10 at the Asian Games in 2026 and win a medal in 2030.
