St Xavier's College alumni launch fund for 100 disadvantaged students
Some grown-ups who used to study at St Xavier's College in Calcutta made a special plan to help new students.
People who went to a school or college in the past are called alumni.
The alumni made a project called Bridges of Hope-Beyond Boundaries.
Their friends in Singapore gave the very first donation of ₹15 lakh.
The principal of the college, Father Dominic Savio, received the money.
The money will help 100 students who do not have much money pay for college.
These students study at the college's Raghabpur campus.
The alumni want former students from all over the world to join and help too.
This way, more children can learn and have a better future.
The St Xavier's College (Calcutta) Alumni Association, with its Singapore chapter, launched Bridges of Hope-Beyond Boundaries to fund higher education for 100 students.
The Singapore chapter presented the first instalment of ₹15 lakh to principal Rev Fr Dominic Savio.
Students at the Raghabpur campus in South 24-Parganas will receive support throughout their undergraduate studies.
The initiative is a sustained global campaign connecting alumni chapters worldwide to support students from financially weaker families.
The project also focuses on community welfare and empowering marginalized populations, especially women.
