Bangladesh Balances Ties With US, India, China
Bangladesh’s foreign minister, Dr Khalilur Rahman, said that making friends with one country doesn’t mean you have to stop being friends with another.
He talked to the US ambassador, Sergio Gor, who was visiting Bangladesh.
The visit happened while China was starting a big factory zone in Chittagong.
Rahman also met India’s high commissioner.
He wants Bangladesh to keep good relationships with the US, India, and China.
The Chinese project is part of China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
Bangladesh is careful to keep all its friends happy.
Bangladesh’s foreign minister said improving ties with one country does not hurt relations with others, stressing a balanced approach with the US, India, and China.
The statement came during US Ambassador Sergio Gor’s three‑day visit to Bangladesh, which coincided with the start of China’s first national‑level industrial park in Chittagong.
Rahman welcomed the US visit, noting it would strengthen strategic ties and regional security, and said Bangladesh would welcome future trips by the prime minister to India.
The Chinese Economic and Industrial Zone (CEIZ) is being built by China Road and Bridge Corporation, a key Belt and Road Initiative participant.
Bangladesh also met with India’s High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi and other officials, underscoring its intent to maintain good relations with multiple partners.
