Centre to Demolish Shastri and Krishi Bhawan
The government is going to knock down two old buildings in Delhi called Krishi Bhawan and Shastri Bhawan.
These buildings are home to many important offices like Agriculture, Education, and Culture.
The government wants to build two new, very modern buildings in their place.
These new buildings will cost a lot of money, over Rs 3,006 crore, and will have eight floors each.
The old buildings will be demolished to make space for the new ones.
The new buildings will be ready in two years, and the government will take care of them for five years after that.
Many important offices will move to these new buildings, and this will also make way for a new museum at Raisina Hill.
The Centre plans to demolish Krishi Bhawan and Shastri Bhawan in New Delhi to make way for new Common Central Secretariat Buildings 4 and 5.
The demolition will cover an area of 1.22 lakh square metres on Dr Rajendra Prasad Road.
The new buildings will each have eight floors and will be constructed as PEB steel structures, with a construction deadline of two years.
The cost of the new buildings is over Rs 3,006 crore, including operation and maintenance for five years after completion.
Several key ministries, including Agriculture, Education, and Culture, are currently housed in the buildings to be demolished and will be relocated to the new buildings.
