Bombay High Court convicts Tarun Tejpal of aggravated rape

A long time ago, in 2013, a young woman who worked for a news magazine said that her boss, a powerful man named Tarun Tejpal, hurt her in a hotel elevator.

At first, in 2021, a lower court said he was not guilty, and the woman was asked embarrassing questions about things that had nothing to do with whether she was telling the truth.

But a higher court called the Bombay High Court looked at all the evidence again.

It said the woman's story was strong and truthful, and there were apology emails from the boss and hotel videos that supported what she said.

The court decided the boss was guilty and sent him to prison for 10 years.

It also said that powerful people must never be allowed to use their power to hurt the people who work for them.

The court told other judges that they must protect people who say they were hurt instead of letting them be embarrassed in court.

This case teaches us that everyone deserves to be treated fairly and that powerful people cannot do bad things without consequences.
