BMC Launches AI WhatsApp Assistant for South Mumbai Civic Complaints
South Mumbai residents can use WhatsApp to tell the city about certain local problems.
The new service is called “Hello A Ward.”
It can help with issues such as garbage, water supply, roads and street lights.
People can send details, photos and the location of a problem.
The assistant gives each complaint a number so it can be tracked.
It also sends updates as the complaint moves through the city’s departments and toward resolution.
Some updates may include photos from before and after the work.
Problems inside private residential buildings are not covered.
Municipal Commissioner Ashwini Bhide introduced the “Hello A Ward” assistant on Friday, October 9, 2026.
The WhatsApp-based service covers South Mumbai areas including Colaba, Cuffe Parade and Fort.
Residents can report garbage, water supply, road repair and street-light issues without downloading another app.
The assistant records issue details, photographs and location, then provides a complaint number and summary.
Users can follow complaint progress and receive updates, including before-and-after photographs; private-building disputes are excluded.
