Congress alleges irregularities in Maharashtra electoral roll revision

The Congress Party in Maharashtra has accused the state's election authorities of irregularities in the process of updating the electoral rolls.

They claim that in areas where the Congress traditionally does well, there are more voters whose details are not properly recorded.

This, they say, is a step towards removing their names from the voter list.

The Congress also alleges that workers from the ruling party have been categorizing voters based on their political preferences and submitting forms to delete the names of Congress supporters.

The election authorities, however, say they have not received any formal complaint and cannot comment on the internal party letter.
