A court in Bareilly sentenced Said Khan to life in prison for killing his brother-in-law, Zakir Ahmed.

Police said Zakir had married Khan’s sister, Baby, about 15 years earlier.

Her family reportedly did not approve of the marriage.

Police said Khan remained unhappy about it and had a strained relationship with Zakir.

The prosecution said Khan attacked Zakir with a knife at home on May 5, 2024.

Zakir was taken to a hospital but later died.

The court also gave Khan five years for an Arms Act offense.

He must pay fines totaling Rs 30,000 or serve two additional months in prison.
