Maharashtra Approves Chakan Roads Plan, Hinjewadi Traffic Measures
Chakan and Hinjewadi are industrial areas where roads, flooding and traffic have become serious problems.
The Maharashtra government has approved a large plan to improve Chakan.
It has also prepared a separate plan for traffic in Hinjewadi.
Officials want work to start in December.
In Chakan, drains will be cleared so rainwater can flow away more easily.
Roads, bridges, pedestrian paths and traffic facilities will also be improved.
More buses may be added to help workers avoid using private vehicles.
Cameras, artificial intelligence and security personnel will be used to help manage traffic.
The Maharashtra government has given in-principle approval to a Rs 1,400-crore infrastructure plan for Chakan.
A separate Rs 426-crore plan has been prepared to address traffic congestion in Hinjewadi.
Work is planned to begin in December, with Chakan drainage and traffic improvements targeted before the next monsoon.
The Chakan plan includes improvements to 75 km of roads, natural drains, culverts, bridges, pedestrian paths and public transport.
Artificial intelligence-based enforcement, CCTV traffic management and additional security personnel are proposed for Chakan, Talegaon and Hinjewadi.
