Court sentences minor to 25 years for abducting 13-year-old girl

This story is about a court in India that makes decisions when someone does something wrong.

A teenage boy took a 13-year-old girl away from her home without permission, which is called abduction.

This happened on the morning of July 15, 2023, when the girl stepped out of her house.

The girl's mother told the police, and the police registered a case against the boy.

A special court, called a POCSO court, handles cases where children are hurt or treated badly.

The judge decided the boy must be punished for 25 years and also pay a fine of Rs 30,000.

Because the boy is still a minor, which means a person under 18, he will not go straight to a regular jail.

Instead, he will stay in a special home in Ghazipur, where people will make sure he gets an education and grows up healthy.

When he turns 21, he will be moved to the Mau district jail to serve the rest of his punishment.

The court ordered that his education and mental and physical development be taken care of until then.
