MahaRERA Grants Automatic Four-Month Extension to Eligible Housing Projects

In Maharashtra, there is an important office called MahaRERA that keeps an eye on housing construction projects.

Far away in West Asia, there is a conflict that makes it hard for builders to get materials and supplies.

Because of this, many housing projects are running late.

So MahaRERA decided to give builders an automatic four-month extension.

'Automatic' means builders don't need to fill out special forms to get the extra time.

Only projects that were supposed to be finished on or after February 28, 2026 can get the extension.

Projects that were newly registered on or after August 1, 2026 do not qualify.

The government said the West Asia conflict counts as 'war,' which lets MahaRERA use a special force majeure rule.

Builders' industry groups welcomed the decision, saying it gives them relief and clarity.

Homebuyers also get a clearer idea of the new timelines for their homes.
