BMC Headquarters to Get 87 AI Cameras, Paperless Meeting System
The city government of Mumbai, called the BMC, is making its main office smarter and safer.
It is buying 87 new cameras that use artificial intelligence, or AI.
These cameras can spot danger and recognize faces.
They will replace the old cameras in the heritage buildings.
The new cameras will watch visitors, employees and officials.
The BMC is also going paperless.
Instead of printing papers for meetings, it will send them to phones and tablets.
This will help the 237 city leaders get their meeting papers easily.
It will also save money on printing.
The plan still needs approval from a city committee.
The BMC headquarters will replace its old CCTV cameras with 87 AI-enabled cameras featuring facial recognition and real-time threat detection.
The camera system includes 41 dome cameras, 44 bullet cameras and two PTZ cameras at a total cost of Rs. 3.74 crore.
Sahora Corporation has been selected for the project, which includes four years of maintenance costing Rs. 35.41 lakh.
A Digital Meeting Management System will make General Body and committee proceedings paperless for 237 corporators.
The Rs. 42.77-lakh cloud-based platform will deliver agendas, documents, minutes and alerts to smartphones and tablets.
