Andhra Pradesh has started a new housing project in Lakshmi Nagar, Visakhapatnam.

It is the state’s first project to rebuild a slum in the same place.

This means the families living there will not have to move permanently to another area.

A tall building with 177 homes will be built for 177 families.

The project will cost Rs.28.44 crore.

Families will receive money to help pay rent while construction is underway.

The building is expected to be finished in nine months.

Officials want to give the homes to residents by June 2027.

They hope this project can become a model for improving other slum areas.
