The Krishna District Milk Union plans to make milk cost ₹2 more per litre.

The new price is scheduled to begin on September 14, during Vinayaka Chavithi.

The CPI(M) protested outside the Vijay Dairy factory in Vijayawada.

Party leaders said higher milk prices would make life harder for poor and middle-class families.

They said prices had already been increased again within five months.

The protesters estimated that families could face a large additional financial burden.

They also said the increase could encourage private dairies to raise prices.

The CPI(M) wants the increase cancelled and said it will continue protesting if that does not happen.
