Taiwan detects Chinese aircraft, warships near its territorial waters

Taiwan is an island near China.

Some people in Taiwan watch the sky and the sea every day to see if any Chinese planes or ships come too close.

On Monday, they saw one Chinese plane and many Chinese ships near Taiwan's waters.

One of the Chinese planes flew into a special area of sky near Taiwan called the Air Defence Identification Zone.

The day before, Taiwan had seen four Chinese planes, six Chinese navy ships, and nine official ships.

Two of those planes crossed an imaginary line in the sea that Taiwan watches very carefully.

Taiwan's armed forces said they are monitoring the situation and have responded.

Taiwan is also testing its first ever submarine that was built in Taiwan.

The submarine left Kaohsiung Port in June for practice dives in the sea.

These events happen because China says Taiwan belongs to China, but Taiwan wants to protect itself and stay safe.
