Collector urges farmers to diversify crops amid water concerns

A district leader named Kumar Deepak talked to farmers about growing crops.

He told them there is less rain and less water in the ground these days.

Because of this, he asked farmers to grow different kinds of crops.

Growing rice needs a lot of water, so he said farmers should grow less rice.

He warned that a weather pattern called El Niño could make water even harder to find.

If there is not enough water, crops can get damaged and farmers can lose money.

He suggested growing maize and different kinds of beans that need less water.

The water used for one rice field could water three or four fields of these other crops.

He told farmers to check their water supply before planting seeds.

He also asked them to follow the advice of government officials.
