Bombay HC to Hear Appeals in J Dey Murder Case
A long time ago, in 2011, a famous crime reporter named Jyotirmoy Dey was killed in Mumbai.
The police found out that a gangster named Chhota Rajan and his friends did it.
In 2018, a court said they were guilty and sent them to jail for life.
Now, these nine people are saying they are not guilty and want a higher court to listen to them.
The higher court, called the Bombay High Court, will start listening to them in January 2026.
The court said that all the people who did this are in jail, except one who was let go.
The court also said that they will not let any of them out of jail before the hearing because nothing has changed.

Nine convicts were sentenced to life imprisonment in 2018 by a special MCOCA court for their roles in the murder.
The court noted that all accused are currently in jail except one who was acquitted earlier.
The High Court rejected previous bail pleas, stating no change in circumstances to warrant reconsideration.
The murder was described as a meticulously planned conspiracy by the High Court in its October 2024 order.
