Delhi To Demolish 34 Government Schools, Build 27 New Campuses
Some government schools in Delhi are old and not very safe for students.
The government decided to knock down 34 of these school buildings.
In their place, it will build 27 brand new school buildings on empty plots of land.
Building the new schools will cost about 900 crore rupees.
The government hopes the new buildings will be ready within 18 months.
Before making this decision, officials checked all 1,090 government schools in the city.
They took 360-degree pictures of every room and used special tools to test how strong the buildings were.
Schools will now be sorted into groups: some will be kept, some repaired, some retrofitted, and some demolished.
The goal is to keep students and staff safe.
