Mumbai Biker Riddhi Thakkar Dies in Chhattisgarh Hit-and-Run
A young woman named Riddhi loved riding motorcycles very much.
She travelled from her home in Mumbai to a state called Chhattisgarh to join a big group ride called the Tiranga ride.
On the way, she was riding a different motorcycle that belonged to another rider.
That other bike had been in a small crash and its brakes were broken.
Riddhi chose to ride it anyway because she was very experienced.
While she was on the highway, another vehicle hit her and drove away without stopping.
Sadly, Riddhi passed away from her injuries.
Her family is very sad and wants to know why she was on a different bike than her own.
The police are searching for the vehicle that hit her.
Riddhi also made makeup for movies and wanted to study more makeup art in London.
Riddhi Thakkar, a 24-year-old Mumbai biker and makeup artist, died in a hit-and-run on National Highway 30 near Markatola Ghat in Chhattisgarh on Wednesday.
At the time of the accident she was riding a Bajaj Avenger rather than the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 she had taken from Mumbai — a discrepancy her family says doesn't add up.
Ride organiser Amita Bais says Riddhi volunteered to ride the borrowed Avenger, whose brakes were damaged in an earlier crash, despite the organiser's objection.
She was one of 20 women bikers invited for the 1,100-km Tiranga ride through Bastar, organised with the Chhattisgarh government; the rally had not yet begun.
Balod district SP Kiran Chavan said police are tracing the trailer allegedly involved, while her father Divyesh says the family will decide later on legal action.
