Delhi Police night 'general gasht' patrol ahead of Independence Day
The police in Delhi, called the Delhi Police, are getting ready for Independence Day, which is a big holiday on August 15.
To keep everyone safe, they are doing a special night patrol called a 'general gasht.'
This means lots of police officers will be on the roads at night.
The patrol will happen from 11 o'clock at night until 2 o'clock in the morning.
It will take place on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday.
All police officers, from the most junior to the most senior, will join in.
They will check important buildings and places that could be in danger.
They will also watch for people or cars acting suspiciously.
The police want everyone to feel safe and to stop any trouble before the big celebration.
Delhi Police will conduct a 'general gasht' special patrolling exercise across the capital and its 15 police districts ahead of Independence Day.
The three-hour patrol will run from 11 pm to 2 am on the intervening night of Tuesday-Wednesday.
Police personnel of all ranks will remain on the roads to enhance visibility of the force.
Teams will check strategic points, sensitive locations, important installations and vulnerable areas, and watch suspicious persons and vehicles.
