OneTag Lets FASTag Users Switch Banks Without Replacing Tags
OneTag is a new system for people who use FASTag.
FASTag is attached to a vehicle’s windscreen.
It helps users pay road tolls.
Before OneTag, changing the bank connected to a FASTag was difficult.
People had to close their old tag and get a new one.
OneTag lets them change banks while keeping the same physical tag.
Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari introduced it in Mumbai on September 11.
It may help about 6 crore active FASTag users who are unhappy with their bank’s service or recharge process.
The government launched OneTag to let FASTag users change issuer banks.
Users can switch banks without discarding the physical FASTag fixed to their windscreen.
Previously, changing banks required closing the old tag and completing fresh onboarding.
