India Proposes Sudhakar Dalela as Next Ambassador to Nepal
India wants Sudhakar Dalela to become its next ambassador to Nepal.
India has asked Nepal to agree to the appointment.
Nepal must give this formal approval, called agrément, before Dalela can take the job.
Dalela is an experienced Indian diplomat.
He currently works on economic relations for India’s foreign ministry and is India’s Sherpa for BRICS.
He was previously India’s ambassador to Bhutan.

Dalela is a 1993-batch Indian Foreign Service officer and currently Secretary for Economic Relations.
He also serves as India’s Sherpa for BRICS and previously was ambassador to Bhutan from 2022 to 2025.
Dalela can take up the Nepal post only after Nepal grants the required diplomatic agrément.
