Maharashtra Expands Cash Rewards Across National Sports Competitions
Maharashtra Expands Cash Prize Scheme To National Games, Khelo India & Para-Sports · freepressjournal.in

Maharashtra has changed how it rewards successful athletes.

More sports competitions will now qualify for prize money.

National Games medalists will receive larger awards than before.

Athletes at the World University Games and Khelo India will also get cash prizes.

Youth Olympics and Youth Paralympics rewards have been raised substantially.

Some major tennis, badminton and hockey events are included too.

Coaches can receive part of an athlete’s prize money for helping with training.

Deaf, blind and Special Olympics events are also covered under the revised plan.

Rs 7 lakh, increased from Rs 5 lakh
National Games silver and bronze prizes
Rs 5 lakh and Rs 3 lakh, increased from Rs 3 lakh and Rs 1.5 lakh
World University Games prizes
Rs 10 lakh for gold, Rs 7 lakh for silver and Rs 5 lakh for bronze
Khelo India prizes
Rs 3 lakh for gold, Rs 2 lakh for silver and Rs 1 lakh for bronze
Youth Olympics and Youth Paralympics gold prize
Rs 50 lakh, increased from Rs 22.5 lakh
Coach allocation
Coaches can receive 10% of an athlete’s cash prize, with a maximum of three coaches eligible
Additional coverage
The scheme includes Deaflympics, IBSA World Championships, Blind Cricket World Cup and Special Olympics World Games
