Telangana Seeks Fair, Legal Share of Krishna Waters
Telangana is asking for what it says is its fair share of Krishna River water.
The state says it does not want special treatment.
It wants existing legal processes to decide the issue.
Telangana also says the same rules should apply to all states that share the river.
Its deputy chief minister repeated that the state has rights as a lower-riparian state.
He made the comments at a meeting of the Southern Zonal Council.
He said disagreements between states should be resolved fairly and within a reasonable time.
He also said states should compete for investment, industries, jobs and talented people rather than rely on special privileges.

He said Telangana wants its fair entitlement through established legal mechanisms.
Telangana called for adjudicatory mechanisms to be respected and applied equally to all riparian states.
The state reiterated that it retains lower-riparian rights over surplus waters.
Vikramarka said inter-State issues should receive fair, time-bound and legally sustainable resolutions.
