Indian Bridge Duo Roy, Kushari Clinch Gold in China

Some very talented young players from India played in a big tournament in China.
Their names are Sagnik Roy and Sayantan Kushari.
They played in the Under-31 Pairs category, for players younger than 31.
There were 34 pairs at the start of the competition.
Only the top 14 pairs moved on to the next round, called Flight A. The Indian team did really well in the round-robin matches.
They collected 377.67 match points, more than anyone else.
That means they won the gold medal!
Teams from Croatia and China won the silver and bronze medals.
Indian bridge duo Sagnik Roy and Sayantan Kushari won the gold medal in the Under-31 Pairs at the 9th World Youth Transnational Championships.
The championship was held in Hefei, China, where the pair clinched victory on Saturday.
They topped Flight A with 377.67 match points in the round-robin format after advancing from an initial elimination round.
In the first elimination round, 34 pairs competed and the top 14 advanced to Flight A, including the Indian duo.
Croatia's M Fereneca and F Katusich finished second with 357.78 match points, while China's J Han and Z Wang took third with 335.92 match points.
