Karnataka CM urges CSR backing for rural government schools

The leader of Karnataka, a big state in India, asked companies to help village schools.

Companies can share their profits through something called CSR to build schools and give them computers, labs and other things.

The government has a plan to improve 2,000 government schools with this kind of help.

The leader said companies can even put their names on the schools they adopt.

He wants city children to visit villages and learn how crops like ragi and wheat are grown and where milk comes from.

He asked a university to make a rule that students must spend three days in a village.

He remembered a former President named Pranab Mukherjee, who helped make the CSR law many years ago.

Karnataka could receive about Rs 10,000 crore every year for these projects, but last year companies gave only around Rs 3,394 crore.

So the leader is asking companies to give more, so children in villages can get a good education.
