Faridabad to Build Three CETPs to Curb Yamuna Pollution
Faridabad plans to build three special plants to clean dirty water from factories.
The factories use chemicals, dyes and aluminium in their work.
Officials say some of this wastewater reaches the Yamuna through the Agra Canal.
The three plants will be built in Pratapgarh, Mirzapur and Badshahpur.
Together, they can treat 90 million litres of water each day.
The biggest plant will treat 50 million litres daily.
The project is expected to cost about Rs 400 crore.
Cleaned water may be reused by factories and farmers.
The plants are intended to reduce pollution in the river, canal and groundwater.
Three common effluent treatment plants will be built in Faridabad to stop industrial wastewater from reaching the Yamuna and subsidiary canals.
The plants will be located in Pratapgarh, Mirzapur and Badshahpur, with capacities of 50, 25 and 15 MLD respectively.
Together, the plants will treat 90 MLD of wastewater at an estimated cost of Rs 400 crore.
The Badshahpur plant will replace an old sewage treatment plant on about six acres of Municipal Corporation land.
Officials said the treated water could be reused by industries and potentially used by farmers for irrigation.
