Centre Approves Rs 20,800 Crore Railway Multitracking Projects
The Union government approved eight projects to build more railway tracks.
These projects will cost Rs 20,800 crore.
They will take place across nine states.
Five of the projects are in four southern states.
Together, those southern projects will add about 540 kilometres of railway lines.
One project will connect Ghatkesar near Hyderabad with Kazipet through Yadagirigutta.
Other projects will add tracks between places in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
The government says the work will help trains move faster and carry more passengers and goods.

Five projects worth Rs 10,021 crore will cover Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana.
The projects will add about 540 kilometres to the Indian Railways network.
A 110-kilometre line between Ghatkesar and Kazipet via Yadagirigutta in Telangana will cost an estimated Rs 2,419 crore.
Other works include third and fourth lines between Arakkonam-Renigunta and Whitefield-Bangarapet.
