India Raises EPFO Wage Ceiling, Expanding Social Security Coverage
EPFO Telangana Welcomes Enhancement of Wage Ceiling to ₹25,000; Wider Social Security Coverage for Workers · thehansindia.com

The government has raised the monthly pay limit for automatic EPFO coverage from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000.

This means many more workers may receive employment-linked social-security protection.

More than 51 lakh additional employees across India are expected to be covered.

EPFO protection includes savings for retirement through EPF.

It can also include pension support through EPS and insurance protection through EDLI.

Workers may see changes in their monthly contributions, but those contributions are intended to build long-term financial security.

The change also aims to strengthen formal employment and help workers and employers maintain more stable relationships.

EPFO Telangana says it will help employees and employers understand the revised rules.
