Missing Kerala Fisherman Shijin: Navy Joins Day-10 Search Operation
A fisherman named Shijin went out in a small fishing boat near a place called Muthalapozhi in Kerala, India.
His boat flipped over and he fell into the water.
It has been ten days, and people still cannot find him.
Local fishermen and divers have been searching very hard.
The Indian Navy has now joined to help.
They sent a big navy ship called INS Kalpeni to the area.
Navy divers will search underwater near the long wall called a breakwater and the curving part of the waterway.
Special aircraft are also flying above to look for him.
Many people are hoping and praying that he will be found safe.
INS Kalpeni anchored offshore facing the Muthalapozhi estuary, with a Navy scuba team set to begin an underwater search on Monday morning.
Fisherman Shijin, a native of Anchuthengu in Kerala, has been missing for ten days after his fishing boat capsized at Muthalapozhi.
The Navy scuba team will focus on the extended section of the breakwater and the curved section of the estuary, where difficult underwater conditions have complicated the search.
A professional scuba diving team from Vizhinjam has been searching between the breakwater, tetrapods and fishing nets since Sunday morning.
The Coast Guard has assisted with surveillance flights by a Dornier aircraft and a helicopter; the sea has been comparatively calmer, allowing divers to stay underwater longer.
