Bhopal BMC Meet: Opposition to Raise Illegal Commercial Activity, Waterlogging
Bhopal is a city in India with a local government group that takes care of it, called the Bhopal Municipal Corporation, or BMC.
Elected members of this group are getting ready for a big meeting on August 19.
Some members, called the Opposition, are not happy about a few things in the city.
They want to talk about homes in residential areas being used as shops or offices, which is not allowed.
They also want to complain about bumpy roads and streets that fill with water after heavy rain.
During the meeting, leaders will also talk about renting out six empty city buildings to earn more money.
These rentals could bring in about 6.14 crore rupees every year.
They will also decide on a tender for a small place called Son Chiriya Hawks Corner, near a college.
If the renting plans work, the city will have more money to fix the problems the Opposition is complaining about.
The BMC general council meeting will be held on August 19 at 11 am at the Kushabhau Thackeray Bus Terminal council hall.
Opposition corporators, led by Shabista Zaki, plan to raise illegal commercial activities in residential areas, poor road conditions and waterlogging.
The civic body's action against illegal commercial activities follows compliance with Supreme Court orders.
Six property-leasing proposals could generate Rs 51.14 lakh per month, or nearly Rs 6.14 crore annually.
The council will also consider an e-tender for Son Chiriya Hawks Corner near Nutan College with a minimum annual licence fee of Rs 20.35 lakh.
