Student’s Suicide After NEET Counselling Renews Tamil Nadu Scrapping Demand

Shruthilaya was a 21-year-old student who wanted to study medicine.

She had prepared for NEET for four years and received what was described as a decent score.

After counselling, her name was not on the list of students selected for medical college.

She later died by suicide in a storeroom building near her home in Palayamkottai.

Her death saddened people in the area.

Police sent her body for a postmortem examination.

Political leaders in Tamil Nadu used the incident to renew demands that NEET be cancelled.

They said the exam and admission system were causing stress and not giving students enough confidence in its fairness.
