The Enforcement Directorate searched places connected to a university founded by Azam Khan.

The agency is investigating whether money from government contracts was diverted and used to build assets for the university and its trust.

Akhilesh Yadav questioned why the agency was focusing on Azam Khan’s linked premises.

He asked it to investigate several other alleged corruption cases as well.

These included alleged theft of temple donations, codeine-syrup activity and problems with roads and bridges.

A Uttar Pradesh minister said the searches could reveal corruption and illegal land use.

Opposition leaders said the action was meant to pressure Azam Khan and the university.

The university has also faced a dispute over alleged construction without approved building plans.
