Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath Performs Rudrabhishek at Gorakhpur Temple
The leader of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, visited a very old temple called Mansarovar Temple in the city of Gorakhpur.
He went there on a special holy day called Shravan Shivratri, which is celebrated in the Hindu month of Shravan.
On this day, people pray to Lord Shiva, a very important Hindu god.
The Chief Minister took part in a special prayer ceremony called Rudrabhishek.
During this ceremony, holy water and other items like milk, curd, honey and sugar are poured over a sacred symbol of Lord Shiva.
He also gave flowers and leaves as offerings to the god.
Special priests chanted ancient prayers from holy books while the ceremony happened.
After the prayers, he did a fire ritual and a ceremony called aarti, where lights are waved.
He prayed that all people in the state would live healthy, happy and peaceful lives.
He had done the same kind of prayer at Gorakhnath Temple the day before.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath performed Rudrabhishek at the ancient Mansarovar Temple in Gorakhpur on the occasion of Shravan Shivratri.
This was his second consecutive day of the ritual; on Monday he performed Rudrabhishek at the Shaktipeeth in Gorakhnath Temple.
He offered bilva leaves, lotus flowers, durva grass and various other worship articles to Lord Shiva.
The abhishek was performed with honey, curd, sugar, cow's milk and water while priests chanted mantras from the Rudrashtadhyayi of the Shukla Yajurveda Samhita.
He concluded the ritual with a havan and aarti, praying for the welfare of all living beings and the happiness and prosperity of the state's people.
