Goyal: Logistics Data Bank crosses 10 crore EXIM containers milestone
India has a smart computer system called the Logistics Data Bank that keeps an eye on huge metal boxes called containers.
These containers carry goods made in India to other countries and bring goods back into the country.
The minister in charge, Piyush Goyal, shared exciting news that the system has now tracked 10 crore containers, which is a very big number.
The system uses special tags called RFID and readers to know where each container is.
It keeps track of containers at ports, train stations, factories, toll plazas and border check posts all across India.
This helps people who send goods know exactly where their things are and find problems faster.
Faster and smarter shipping helps Indian companies sell more products around the world.
The minister said efficient logistics are key to Viksit Bharat, which means making India a developed nation.
A newer version of the system can even follow containers while they travel on ships in the ocean.
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced that the Logistics Data Bank (LDB) has achieved the milestone of tracking 10 crore EXIM containers.
Goyal said technology is making India's logistics simpler, faster and more efficient and is key to the Prime Minister's Viksit Bharat vision.
The LDB provides 100 per cent visibility of India's EXIM container movement through RFID-based tracking, covering 19 ports and 32 container terminals.
The platform's network spans 103 ICDs, 439 CFSs, 89 manufacturing SEZs, 5,569 railway stations, 269 toll plazas and three Integrated Check Posts.
LDB 2.0, launched in September 2025, added high-seas tracking of India's export containers and multimodal shipment visibility.
