Mahindra to Reveal Scorpio N Pickup Truck on Independence Day
An Indian car company called Mahindra is showing off a brand-new pickup truck on August 14, India's Independence Day.
A pickup truck is a car with an open flat bed at the back for carrying big things like boxes or camping gear.
The new truck is based on Mahindra's popular Scorpio N SUV, so it has a strong, tough body.
It has a double cab, meaning two rows of seats, plus a longer loading bed in the back.
Buyers may get to choose between a petrol engine and a diesel engine, and both can be quite powerful.
The truck might have four-wheel drive and special modes for driving on sand, mud, grass, or snow.
Inside, there will be a big touchscreen and a digital dashboard.
It is expected to cost between about 16 lakh and 26 lakh rupees.
It will compete with other pickup trucks like the Toyota Hilux and the Isuzu V-Cross.
The official name has not been announced yet, but it could be called the Scorpio-X.
Mahindra is unveiling its Scorpio N-based pickup truck on August 14, India's Independence Day, headlining a two-day event that kicks off at 7 PM.
The production model is derived from the 2023 Global Pik Up concept and marks Mahindra's return to the lifestyle pickup segment after the Scorpio Getaway was discontinued.
The double-cab pickup shares the Scorpio N's ladder-frame platform and is expected to get a longer wheelbase than the SUV's 2,750 mm to accommodate a rear load bed.
Expected powertrains are a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol (up to 203 hp/380 Nm) and a 2.2-litre diesel (up to 175 hp/400 Nm), with six-speed manual and automatic gearboxes and possible four-wheel drive.
Estimated pricing ranges from Rs 16 lakh to Rs 26 lakh, positioning it against the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu V-Cross, though the final badge (possibly Scorpio-X) is unconfirmed.
