Adani Ports Expands Vizhinjam Seaport
Adani Ports is starting the second phase of building the Vizhinjam seaport in Kerala, India.
This phase will cost about ₹30,000 crore and will make the port bigger and more advanced.
The port will get new machines and technology to handle more ships and cargo.
The work includes building a very deep and long breakwater, adding electric vehicle charging stations, and improving security.
The Chief Minister of Kerala will officially start the project on January 24, 2026.
This will help make Vizhinjam the biggest place for transferring goods between ships in the Indian sub-continent.
The port is already used by big global shipping companies like MSC, Maersk Line, and CMA CGM.
Adani Ports to invest ₹30,000 crore in the development of Vizhinjam International Seaport.
Phase 2 will add 4.1 million TEUs to the port's existing capacity, increasing it to 5.7 million TEUs by 2029.
The project includes 21 automated ship-to-shore cranes and 45 automated Cantilever Rail-Mounted Gantry cranes.
A 920-meter breakwater with a depth of 21 meters will be constructed.
Phase 2 will feature green equipment like electric vehicle charging stations and improved security measures.
