Karnataka to Re-Verify Gruha Lakshmi Beneficiaries Biometrically
Karnataka gives money each month to women who are the heads of their households through the Gruha Lakshmi Scheme.
The government wants to check that people receiving the money are still eligible.
Officials will visit beneficiaries’ homes beginning August 30.
They will ask families to complete forms and will use fingerprints or facial checks.
Officials will also take a photograph and record the location of each home.
People who are not at home can complete the check at certain service centres or Fair Price Shops.
