Honda ZR-V Hybrid SUV First Drive: Performance Over Gimmicks in India
Honda, a big Japanese car company, brought a new hybrid SUV called the ZR-V to India.
It is the first hybrid SUV Honda has sold in India.
A hybrid car uses both petrol and electricity together.
The ZR-V has one petrol engine and two electric motors that work as a team.
This makes the car fast, going from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in under 8 seconds.
It also uses fuel wisely, with Honda claiming about 23 kilometres per litre.
The car is premium and costs about Rs 48 lakh, which is a lot of money.
It has fancy features like a big touchscreen, Bose speakers, a power tailgate, and a wireless phone charger.
Journalists tested the car on a race track called Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida.
Honda is not trying to sell tons of these cars, and the first two batches for India are already sold out.
Honda has brought its first hybrid SUV for India, the ZR-V e:HEV, priced at Rs 47.99 lakh as a full import.
The e:HEV Sports Hybrid combines a 2.0-litre Atkinson-cycle engine with dual electric motors, producing 181 BHP and 315 Nm of torque.
Honda claims 22.80 kpl fuel efficiency, a 0-100 kph time of 7.9 seconds, and a top speed of 172 kph.
The test drive took place at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, with track time limiting road-testing.
The first two batches allotted to India are sold out, and Honda is not seeking high sales volumes for this niche model.
